Most AI infrastructure is an abstraction with a billing page attached. This is a warehouse in west Eugene with the machines in it. If you are spending real money on hardware you will never physically touch, you are entitled to see the room.

The build floor
Benches, test rigs and the parts that feed them. A machine is assembled here by a person, not configured in a form and shipped from somewhere else.

Burn-in
Every build runs hard for 48 hours before anyone trusts it. Failures happen here, next to the spare parts, rather than three weeks into your training run.

The racks
The machine travels a few metres from bench to rack and starts serving. Same building, same people, same week.

Parts land on Danebo
GPUs, boards and chassis are received at the dock and staged in the building. Nothing is drop-shipped from a contract manufacturer on another continent.
Assembled by hand at the bench
Each machine is built at a bench here by people whose names you can learn. Typical lead time from order to racked is six to eight weeks.
Burned in for 48 hours
Every build is stressed under load before it is trusted with anything. Machines that misbehave fail here, in a building with spare parts, not in production.
Racked a few metres away
The machine moves from the bench to the rack and starts serving. You own the hardware outright; the building operates it. Ship it to yourself whenever you want it.
Power and grid
The machines are here because the electricity is.
Every other consideration in siting compute — land, labour, tax, fibre — is downstream of what a megawatt-hour costs and where it came from. In the Willamette Valley it is cheap and it is mostly water.
